A life-science research facility rises on the site of a former bakery.

Designed by New York firm LEVENBETTS, this project—the first building in a 5-part master plan to reach completion—brings 350,000 SF of new research floorspace to West Harlem. Targeting LEED certification, the building includes labs, offices, and ground-level retail/hospitality space.

Island worked closely with the design and building team to engineer, fabricate, and deliver more than 1,725 curtainwall panels, complete with integrated aluminum rainscreen cladding and high-performance louver systems.
