A complex panelized solution, responsive to key requirements for facade delivery, design, and budget.

Via Verde’s facade design included features that, if constructed using traditional methods, would have significantly lengthened the project schedule. This presented a unique challenge for the design and construction teams, which aimed to complete the project—an affordable housing tower—as quickly and economically as possible.

To meet this goal, they turned to prefabrication. Island manufactured the panels in our New York fabrication campus, integrating exterior components including balconies and sunshade elements directly into the panelized wall system. Coupled with the shop-installed operable window vents and formed-aluminum cladding, the megapanel facade’s gasketed joinery creates a caulkless interface at all panel-to-panel joints.

With use of a tower crane, Island coordinated the rapid installation of the complete vertical envelope scope, allowing the project to be delivered as envisioned by the client.
